Current Position:

This is my eighth year of teaching. All of these years have been taught at Jay Upper Elementary, teaching library resource skills and enrichment to 4th through 6th grades, and now language arts for 5th grade.

Previous Position:

Before I taught, I spent 10 years as a stay-at-home mom to my four children. I do believe my time with my kids enhanced my ability to teach, because it gave me a greater understanding of kids.

Family Information:

I have been married to Terry Sweeney since 1994. He is a teacher and boys basketball coach at Jay Public Schools. We have four children: Jordan, Garrett, Landrey and Sloane. My oldest son, Jordan, is a junior at the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith. My son Garrett is a senior, and my daughter Landrey is a sophomore at Jay High School. My youngest daughter, Sloane, is a student at Jay Middle School. In addition, I am a self-certified crazy cat lady. Most of my students know I love all cats, but especially my two cats, Sassy and Sophie. We also have a little three-pound chihuahua named Stella.

Personal Information:

Most of my spare time is spent watching my kids participate in sports and other school activities. However, when I do have free time, I love to read. I read a lot of the popular books for kids in my building which allows me to be better able to recommend books. I also love to read books by some of my favorite authors like Stephen King, Douglass Preston and Lincoln Child.
