5th Grade Teacher
I have taught at Jay Public School for 21 years. Currently I am the 5th grade science teacher. I have also taught 5th grade math and social studies.
I started teaching in 1997 at Southwest City School in Southwest City, Missouri. I taught 7th-8th grade algebra and science. I did not always want to be a teacher. I, in fact, was attending law school when my Mom asked me to teach a children's class at church. I was hesitant because I didn't think I was suited to teach children. It turned out I enjoyed it so much that I switched from OU School of Law to NSU in order to get an education degree. I have not regretted this decision one time. Someone once asked me how I could give up a lucrative profession to teach. I replied, "I do not get paid in money, rather I get paid with memorable moments. Helping a child who is hurting or seeing the enthusiasm of a child learning is something that has no monetary equal."
I am blessed to be Hayden Daftari's mom! He graduated from Jay High School in 2018. He now attends Northeastern State University. Out of all the things I have ever had in my life, Hayden is my favorite. I love being his mom!
